I'm a rebel.
I've worn jeans to work this week TWICE.
And since tomorrow is Friday...I'm wearing them tomorrow too!
THREE times...in ONE week!
Eeeek! The sheer thought of it give me goosebumps, I'm so excited!
And just incase you were wondering...yes...I DO live on the edge.

I Make It Possible
A Profound Answer
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.
One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?"
To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"
Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make?" (She paused for a second, then began...)
"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.
"I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.
"You want to know what I make?" (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table)
"I make kids wonder.
"I make them question.
"I make them apologize and mean it.
"I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.
"I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding isn't everything."

I make them read, read, read.
"I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.
"I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know about English while preserving their unique cultural identity.
"I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.
"Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life." (Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)
"Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant.

You want to know what I make?
I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
"What do you make Mr. CEO?"
His jaw dropped, he went silent.
A truly profound answer!!!
Teaching is... the profession that makes all other professions possible!

Never Let Your Fear Decide Your Fate
It started out as a picture I saw and loved...
Then, it became an idea on paper...
Now...it's mine.
Forever.
*I was terrified. I was freaking out about what it would be like and how much it would hurt. I was afraid I would flinch when he began the first time and end up with an unwanted stray mark forever! (When I told the guy I was afraid of flinching and asked what I should do to make sure I didn't, his reply was..."just don't." Ahh, thanks Jamie, you really talked me down from that one.)
Anyway...did it hurt?
Not at all.
I'm a lot tougher than people think.
Ya might say, I'm down right bad a$$!
Although, Jamie is pretty much a tattoo wizard.
He hand drew it all and then did each side in fifteen minutes!
Half an hour in the chair...I was done. Amazing!
If you want to get a tattoo, go see Jamie at Urban Art on Country Club and University.
And if I would have decided I was just too afraid to get a tattoo I would have never gotten something I wanted so much.
Never let your fear decide your fate.

Friends
I can't remember the last time I was so excited to watch TV!
Friends is on Nick-at-Nite now and they play it all night long!!!
It makes no difference that I have the entire series...it's different when you just turn on the TV and you're surprised by which hilarious episode is on.
Thank you, creator of Friends...you have made my life.

Snuggle Time
Josh's alarm goes off at 4:30 in the morning on work days.
He gets up with his alarm and gets ready quickly just so he can have extra time to lay back in bed, put his arms around me and snuggle me before he has to leave.
Seriously, that's the most adorable thing in the world.
It's ok, if it didn't actually happen to me, I wouldn't believe it either.

Within My Soul
Deep within my soul there's music.
Words that never leave my head. Words that immediately become embedded in my soul. Words that stir feelings. Feelings that make you want to laugh, cry, love, live and everything in between.
Melodies played on pianos. Notes that take you to to places and memories you love. Rhythms that change your whole mood or even outlook on life.
Music is something people make because they love it.
Music is something I listen to because I love it.
It grabs a hold of me and doesn't let go.
Music is uplifting.
Be mesmerized by two amazing songs I love with "climb into your soul" kind of lyrics.

Jack's Mannequin- Swim
Kate Voegele- Gravity Happens
There's probably a good 50 songs that I couldn't love without.
What song has lyrics you just love? Share!

Crack the Code?
Today when Josh got home from work I had a riddle for hime to solve.
If he figured out the riddle, it revealed a surprise gift from me!
Each one of those symbols was placed around the house and each one told him where to look for the next one.
By the time he got to the last one (the guitar) and looked at all the pictures again he figured it out.
It turned out to be:
Pig + soda can = Pork Soda (famous Primus Album)
10/20 = Oct. 20
Josh really wanted tickets to the Primus concert on Oct. 20 but I just kept telling him we didn't have the moolaa for it right now.
But, I bought them secretly!
*Insert evil mastermind laugh.
Muuwaahhaaahaaahaaa!
I LOVE surprising him!
Contender for most fun wife of the year...I think so.

Mish Mash
I know you've been longing for new bloggy goodness so I've decided to do a mash up of everything happening in LaLa Land.
1. Tomorrow is Friday!
*cue angels singing beautiful renditions of Hallelujah
This week has been long...GREAT...but long.
You know what makes it even longer?
Two words: Heat Advisory
When it gets to be 110 degrees the kids can't go outside for recess. Which means it's like having a rainy day schedule without the excitement of rain and WITH your skin melting off your body. After keeping my class inside for recess (which never turns out to be too terribly bad because I let them watch Phineus and Ferb...thank you Netflix) I took them outside illegally for an extra afternoon recess.
I live on the edge...what can I say?
2. Today was 13 years since my Grandpa passed away and I saw a rainbow. It seemed kind of perfect.
3. Josh asked me (yes the me that is a vegetarian and animal lover) what I would think if he went hunting............deer. So after I gave him a look that couldn't really be described as a glare, but it wasn't really friendly either, this is the conversation we had...
Josh: "Well what if it was something that caused mass destruction of the land?"
Me: Like a T-REX?
Josh: No.
Me: What then?
Josh: Wild hogs!
Me: Mmm hmm. *exaggerated eye roll
Good luck hubs. You know you really don't want to hunt anything...except maybe a t-rex if you ever get the chance.
4. Did you hear that poor Gavin DeGraw was attacked in New York!? Concussion, broken nose, two black eyes. Sad. If you don't listen to his music, go do that now. Seriously, you won't be sorry.
5. Finally looked into getting my tattoo at a new shop here in QC. The guy told me I had too much sun damage on my back and he doesn't want to tattoo over it incase any of the spots ever need to be tested for skin cancer. Umm...alright. It's not like I'm asking for some huge falcon or mural. It's just a bunch of words. I had never heard that before...I'm probably just going to go somewhere else. You only live once, right?
6. We are celebrating my annual "back to school means it's time to get sick again" sickness! Yay!
7. My dad is recovering so well from his kidney removal! He is pretty much a rock star. And he made me vegetarian pea soup. Yes, he's the best.
*Speaking of Rockstar...did you try that pink/black Rockstar drink yet? You can get it at any gas station. Do it.
I think that's the jist.
All the big things going down here.
Who's ready for a Saturday?!

It Makes Me, Me.
You know how some people have things that make them...let's say...quirky?
I make up words for words/phrases that are boring or too long.
For example, Thursday is and should be called PreFriday. I've said it a hundred times before...feel free to put it into your vocabulary.
Well...those close to me know that I have this one little fantastic sqeaky quirk.
I've got the Nistle.
-
-
-
Nose + Whistle = Nistle
You're welcome. It's hilarious...I know.
On any given day, my nose whistles at least once. Most of the time, loudly.
I'm sure I probably have some horrible sinus issue or deviated septum or something but, eh...whatcha gonna do...make the best of it!
So, do you think I should copyright/trademark (or whatever) the word Nistle? I do! It could be put in Urban Dictionary or something.
I'm not a freak show, I promise!
Everybody has things that make them quirky, right?
Right?
RIGHT?
I LOVE you, blog world! I will whistle a tune for you! Normal whistling, of course.
Umm...awkward.
It's That Good!
I'm back, blog world!
To kick off my new blog I thought I'd do a list of some things I'm loving right now!
1. My latest Coach purse.
2. Pretty Little Liars
Have you seen this? It's addicting...and amazing!
3. This Awolnation album.
The whole thing is good, but at least go to itunes and listen to the song "All I need."
4. THIS Rockstar Energy Drink
Sugar free! Zero Carbs! Delicious!
And my all time guilty pleasure that I just can't help myself from...
MTV's Teen Mom
I try to NOT care.
I really do...but I see it on my DVR and I just can't wait to watch it each week. So sue me...oh well.
It's just SO GOOD!
Well, that's a few things I'm loving!
What great things are you into right now? I'd love to know!
